Tristan can easily be spotted striking up conversation with the nearest life form or asking unintentionally pointed questions. He doesn’t seem to mind any lack of response from the other person and will carry on a complete conversation on his own. His bright, inquisitive nature makes him a decent student, albeit a rather distracted one. But his curiosity borders on outright nosiness, especially when it comes to other people’s business.

Growing up as the adored, youngest and only son of the Winters family, Tristan has rarely experienced hardships. So, he is easily (and somewhat dramatically) concerned about the smallest of problems, from spilling on his freshly washed shirt to losing his favorite quill. His worrisome nature comes across to others as nagging or unwarranted advice-dishing, and he can be seen as rather annoying. Luckily for him, his thick skin and ego means he is incredibly hard to offend. In fact, Tristan can’t fathom being disliked. He tends to find humor in many things (some, questionable) and will tease mercilessly if you let him.

Past his chatty, busybody exterior, however, lies a sensitive soul. Tristan truly enjoys the company of others and tries to be close to them by getting involved. He can be surprisingly empathetic when one least expects it.

[BACKGROUND]

Tristan is the youngest of three children, born to Alberic and Calliope Winters. The Winter family was an old wizarding family that could trace its heritage back for centuries. Though marriages with muggles and half-bloods in the recent decades as well as the squandering of family wealth have led to the decline in their status, most members of the family still boast of nobility and prestige.  

The Winters, who had long wanted a male heir to carry the family line, were unapologetically disappointed by the birth of their first two daughters. So the day Tristan was born, after years of lamentation, became tantamount to a family holiday. May 27 has been marked by lavish celebration and every other day, consistent doting and attention from his parents. It was not until he was older that Tristan realized his older sisters, who he eagerly looked up to, did not receive the same. Though his sisters were never openly resentful, they would react in passive-aggressive ways. By the time Tristan received his letter to Hogwarts, they were both graduated and off with their own careers.

Tristan was eager to finally go to Hogwarts and learn with other wizard children his age. With older parents and siblings, he hardly met kids let alone had time to befriend them. He was lucky to befriend some resilient characters in his own house, Slytherin, his first year who would tolerate him, even invite him to hangout later on Hogsmeade trips. Tristan’s grades were decent but his incessant talking got him into many warnings in class, culminating in a rather horrible detention his second year. His favorite and best subject is Charms, while his worst is Potions. He decided to take Arithmancy as an elective at the expectation of his mother, who was an Arithmancer herself.
